Pastor of WorshipPastor Dave Melton joined the ministry family at Lake Hills in February of 1997. He also directs and oversees the Awana Ministries. He loves working with music and working with kids.
Dave grew up in a loving Christian family, and at a young age came to trust Christ as Savior. They faithfully served the Lord at Calvary Baptist Church in South Bend, Indiana.
Pastor Dave graduated from Grace College in Winona Lake in 1979 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Music Education and Music Management. While at Grace he traveled with Dimension in Brass and led a group that he and some fellow students started, called Sound Investment. After graduation he traveled for a year with a Christian music group, Eternity. Later, he worked for six years as a southeast sales representative for Lexicon Music/Light Records before going into church ministry full time. According to Dave: "True ministry takes place not from the platform to the pew, but from life to life". He feels truly honored to be able to devote his life to a local church ministry where God is at work changing lives.
He appreciates Lake Hills in its uncompromising commitment to the truth of Scripture: doctrinal integrity lived out in our daily lives, walking in the spirit and speaking the truth in love as we serve the needs of people. Lake Hills has a wonderfully uncommon sense of family, unity, and love as the body of Christ.
In addition, Pastor Dave feels called to give people the opportunity to use and develop their gifts and abilities to serve the Lord. As we worship, may we with heartfelt surrender commune with God himself, giving Him the devotion and honor which He is due. In our music ministry, may our medium be as broad as the people we seek to reach and as creative as the God whom we serve. May our message always be the Word of God, for it is the Word that is living and powerful and will change people's hearts. May our motivation be the glory of God and the lifting up of Jesus Christ, and Christ alone. May our endeavors help people to fix their eyes on Jesus, "the Author and Finisher of our faith".
Dave enjoys running, biking, canoeing, rafting, hiking, being outdoors and enjoying God's beautiful creation, and spending time with family. A particularly meaningful verse that really touches his heart is
Galatians 2:20
"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me."
